I enjoy broadening my personal horizons and testing my skills. Calligraphy and hand-lettering has allowed me to pull all of my design knowledge together. When designing something new I have match the message with a typeface or style. This is done to insure that the typeface and style do not distract from the message. These skills can be applied to many future projects.
